We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to build HR systems, support leadership, and ensure a positive, compliant workplace.

About the Position
The HR Manager oversees day-to-day HR operations and partners with executive and site leadership.
This is a hands-on leadership role involving employee relations, policy development, investigations, compliance, and team support.

Strong knowledge of California employment law is required.

What You'll Do:
HR Leadership & Operations:
  • Oversee daily HR operations and systems.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain personnel records and ensure consistency across sites.
  • Support workforce planning and compliance tracking.
Recruitment & Hiring:
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting and onboarding.
  • Partner with leaders on staffing needs.
  • Screen, interview, and coordinate hiring processes.
  • Support hiring for clinical, educational, and administrative roles.
Employee Relations:
  • Support managers and employees with workplace issues.
  • Conduct or assist with investigations.
  • Guide performance management and corrective action.
  • Help maintain a positive workplace culture.
California Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with California and federal employment laws.
  • Support wage/hour, leave, accommodations, and workers’ comp processes.
  • Maintain required documentation and partner with counsel as needed.
Performance & Training:
  • Oversee evaluations and performance processes.
  • Support coaching, documentation, and leadership training.
  • Track required employee training and onboarding.
Benefits & Leave:
  • Support benefits administration and open enrollment.
  • Coordinate leaves of absence and workers’ compensation claims.
Policies & Development:
  • Maintain the Employee Handbook and HR policies.
  • Improve HR systems and provide leadership reporting.

What We're Looking For:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of HR experience.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law.
  • Experience in employee relations, recruiting, and performance management.
  • Strong communication, organization, and confidentiality skills.
Preferred:
  • HR certification (SHRM or PHR/SPHR).
  • Experience in education, behavioral health, or regulated environments.
  • Multi-site HR experience and HRIS familiarity.
